Urban Foraging 4 Rootworkers Summer Gathering Cheat Sheet

I wanted to share the cheat sheet that I will be passing out today at Urban Foraging 4 Rootworkers: Summer Gathering. While these are plants that I particulary scouted out for the area we will be foraging at in Chicago, you can find these plants within the Chicago-land area and some even across North America. This of course is not every plant within the area. Just those that will be found in the most abundance and during the summer season. What about Birds Foot Trefoil?

I'm watching Ritual, the docuseries on PBS about Black rituals in the south, and I'm really enjoying it.


Each episode gives a beautiful history of the strength and power of our ancestors and how we as Black people are continuing the work through these different rituals. I just finished the Hoodoo episode and I loved how they talked through ancestral veneration.


Definitely recommend checking it out!

Elephant Significance in Black Families

I have been think soo soo much about the significance of elephants in black families and its relation to hoodoo. I also think about how intentional Black Greek Letter Organizations were at their conceptions. SN: I wish we could go back in time and call it Kemetic Letter Organizartions since is is where greek letters were derived.

Yesss animal spirits do represent families (sort of like totems) and I believe elephants is a may one. Represent the motherland. Known for wisdom, longevity, strength, quite maternal, and communal! I had statue in my home growing up, and was gifted one
